History and Analysis
This row of houses were built and designed by O.H. Doolittle in 1887. 847 Bushwick Avenue does not match the other four houses in height and window placement, indicating that it was a later addition to the row, replacing the original rowhouse. 853 Bushwick Avenue still retains its original brick facade appearance although the rest of the row has later additions of vinyl or aluminum siding. The cornice and parapet details are probably the result of a later alteration.
