History and Analysis

According to historic maps and documents from the Brooklyn Department of Buildlings, these three houses were built in 1877 and pre-date the larger tenements that occupy the rest of this block along Bushwick Avenue. All three houses have undergone alternations. 836 and 834 Bushwick Avenue have bump out additions on the first floor entrances and 832 Bushwick Avenue no longer has its original cornice and vinyl siding was installed. The addition on 834 was constructed in 1922 and the addition on 836 was designed by Max Cohn in 1928.
