History and Analysis

781 and 783 Bushwick Avenue possess original wooden cornices and sandstone lintels, some of which have been sanded down. It appears that the front porch on 783 is original, as the porch cornice is identical to the roof cornice. 781’s porch detail are indiscernable because of the heavy awning addition. It is unlikely that the stoops are original because they are brick – they originally were probably sandstone. The dates of these buildings were determined from historic maps of Brooklyn.
