Built for Catherine Lipsius, who owned a nearby brewery, and designed by Th. Engelhardt in 1885. Subsequently home to Frederick Cook, notoriously fraudulent “explorer” of the North Pole. Three story, brick masonry, tin and slate mansard roof, iron cornice, terra cotta lintels and ornament. Abandoned and neglected for many years, now being dubiously rehabilitated.

Note: previously mis-attributed as the William Ulmer residence. Ulmer’s residence was across Willoughby at 680 Bushwick Avenue.
