History and Analysis
This 3-story old law tenement was historically occupied by a store (first floor) and four families (two on second and two on third floor). Originally a 25′ x 56′ building on a 25′ x 105′ lot, it was built of stone and brick and was 36′ high with a a flat roof. A pre-1905 externsion measured 25′ x 35’9″, was 19′ high, made of stone and brick, and occupied as a sitting room.
Owned in 1905 by Leonard Epping Brewing Co., located at 193 Melrose St.
This brick building retains its original metal cornice and stone lintels; however, the original windows have been replaced.
