History and Analysis
1134-1140 Jefferson Avenue is a row of four, three-story tenements located between Bushwick Avenue and Evergreen Avenue. All are covered in vinyl siding with most historic ornament removed from the front facade, except for the ornate entrances at the center of the front facades of 1136 and 1138. The wood framed tenements with tin roofs were designed by George Hillenbrand. They were commissioned by William Lehman of 128 Woodbine Street in 1894 as a speculative development venture for $4,000 each.
